Meeting MinutesYear Two

Meeting started at 6:40 p.m.:

  1. Illad from Leland started the meeting by introducing himself. He complied a table that shows what schools will be fielding what teams from the introductions of all present.

  2. The AD from Menlo initiated a discussion about joining a league. Maria Flaherty from M-A stated that she had been collecting LAX bylaws from San Diego and schools in the East. She had spoken to Gordie Young the head of the PAL about joining the PAL. Mr. Young wanted 4 or 5 schools. With Menlo, M-A, Woodside all fielding boys and girls teams Leland said they would join the boys and if Gunn and Castilleja would join the girls that would give 5. The rest of the schools are going to play as independents this year since they are geographically further apart.
  3. Officials - each school was asked to supply two parents per team to be trained as an official. Training is in February and consists of indoor and on the field training.   4. The Menlo Boys coach initiated a discussion about helmet certifications and/or refurbishment. It was agreed upon by all present to follow the NHFS guidelines.
  5. Discussion next focused on who may play on JV teams. It was agreed upon by all present that for safety boys JV teams will consist of F, So, Jr. NO SENIORS. For girls their is no limitation.
  6. Some of the coach's were worried boys would be playing for club teams rather than their H.S. team. John Turner said the he did not know about other clubs but the Tomahawks club wants to be a feeder team for the H.S.'s. Maria Flaherty said that the Tomahawks club had changed their bylaws so if your H.S. has a team you can not play for the Tomahawks club. The Tomahawks club wants the H.S. teams to succeed and not draw boys from H.S. programs.
  7. Discussion about when to start and stop the season was next.
    Practice will not begin before February 1 and will end no later than May 14.
  8. Game will start at 4:00pm, but can be changed if mutually agreed upon.
  9. Boys games are on Tu & TH, Girls games on M & F with both having games on Friday & Saturday if they have to travel far.
  10. It was agreed upon by all to schedule any PAL leagues games at the end of April so that you could play teams out of CCS prior to the season beginning.
  11. It was agreed upon by all that no team should play more than 14 games, 2 scrimmages.
  12. At this point the meeting broke up into two groups Boys and Girls coachs each met on different sides of the room to start scheduling games. The boys coachs/AD's scheduled all games. The girls coach's only scheduled games for those present not knowing the school schedules or teams for those not present.
