Gunn continued to dominate the section tennis championships, winning another team title and taking the singles championship.

The format was unchanged.  Gunn continued as team champion for the fifth consecutive season.

Gunn retained the team title for the seventh consecutive year.  The tournament format was the same.

Carmel stopped Gunn's team championship string, giving the section its first new champion since boys' tennis competition began.  The format was unchanged

Gunn's tennis team returned to the winner'ss circle again.  The tournament format remained the same.

Gunn was a repeat champion in the team competition.  Gun Anderson of Salinas, a runner up in the singles match the previous year, won the individual title.

Geordie McKee of Menlo School, who finished second a year earlier, won the singles title.  Bellarmine was team champion.

Brian Cory of Los Altos defeated teammate Mike Hoiten for the singles title and their school took first place in the team competition.

Menlo Atherton won its first team title and Bellarmine's Dave Stewart won the singles title.

Gunderson's Brian MacPhie defeated teammate Eric Sasao for the singles championship.  Saratoga topped Los Altos as team champion.

Palo Alto won its first team title as the Central Coast Section ended its second decade of boys' tennis competition.

The team championship went to Palo Alto for the fourth consecutive year.  Chris Chatham & Scott Pfeiffer of Robert Louis Stevenson repeated as doubles champions.

Team competition was divided into large and small school divisions.  Monta Vista was large school champion over Leland 7-0, and Menlo School took the other division with a 6-1 win over R.L. Stevenson.

Monta Vista and Menlo School repeated as Division I and Division II champions, respectively. In another repeat of 1998, Menlo ended the year undefeated and inflicted the only loss on Monta Vista in a non-league match.  Menlo finished 24-0 with a win in the CIF Northern California championship.

Los Gatos ended Monta Vista’s Div. 1 win streak at sixth, but Menlo School extended its string of consecutive Div. 2 championships to six.
